About this trip

Tsurpu Monastery in Lhasa, 60 kilometers west of the Chubu River at an elevation of 4,300 meters, is the Gamagaju (Karma Kagyu) faction of Tibetan Buddhism’s main temple, with more than 800 years of history. This sect is said to be the first system of the reincarnation of the living Buddha, and the lineage now spreads to the 17th Karmapa. The tour continues to the great monasteries and monuments of Lhasa, Gyantse and Shigatse.
