About this trip
Mt. Kailash (6,714m) — known as Tise, Kailash or Kang Rinpoche, Jewel of the Snows — has since time immemorial been celebrated in many eastern cosmologies as Mt. Meru, the axis-mundi. Sacred to Hindus, Buddhists, Jains and Bönpos and taken as the centre of the physical and metaphysical universe. Every year thousands make a pilgrimage to Kailash, following a tradition going back thousands of years. The path around Mount Kailash is 52 km long.
