About this package

Nam Tso is situated approximately 190 km north-west of Lhasa at an altitude of 4718 m. It is one of the most famous lakes in Tibet as well as being a very important pilgrimage sight. In the Tibetan “Nam” means Sky and “Tso” means Lake, “the Heavenly Lake”. The lake plays sanctuary to many species of migrating birds and other local birds. It is the second largest saltwater lake in China, the first being Koko Nor (Qinghai Lake) in Qinghai province, and the largest saltwater lake in Tibet. Next to this it is also the highest one in the world. It is approximately 70km long and 30km wide. The Nyenchen Tanglha (Tangula) range, with peaks of more than 7000m, towers over the lake to the south. It is a tidal lake and the ring marks of earlier lake levels are clearly visible by the shoreline. The Lake is easily accessible from Lhasa. While driving to Nam Tso from Lhasa.

Day 1

Fly over panoramic Himalayan ranges from Kathmandu to Lhasa airport (55 minutes flight) and transfer 100 km to the holy city. Check in Hotel. Overnight at hotel.

Day 2

Two Full day sightseeing tour of Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Bhakhor Market, Tibetan Medicine Centre, Drepung and Sera Monasteries. Overnight at hotel.

Day 3

Two Full day sightseeing tour of Potala Palace, Jokhang temple, Bhakhor Market, Tibetan Medicine Centre, Drepung and Sera Monasteries. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4

Drive 220km to Damxung, the main part of grassland via Yangbajian Hot Spring field. Overnight at hotel.

Day 5

Full day exploration of Lake Namtso, the biggest one in Tibetan Plateau, The lake is about 4700m high above sea level. Overnight at hotel.

Day 6

Drive 140km to Naqchu, the key town in Northern Tibet to explore the life of Nomads. Overnight at hotel.

Day 7

Drive 360km back to Lhasa. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8

Early morning Transfer from hotel to airport and fly back to Kathmandu or onward destination. End of Service.
